Travel & Accommodations

Hotel Information

Visitors Inn Hotel
649 Main Street West
Hamilton, ON

Your room is covered by the conference’s SSHRC grant. They will invoice us directly upon checkout. They have your names and arrival dates in advance.

They provide a breakfast, though it is not included with the room. We will provide a light breakfast at the conference (coffee, muffins, fruit).

Arrival:
Pearson International Airport

If you are arriving at YYZ: Pearson International Airport, either Allauren will pick you up (see your email to confirm the details of this) or you will need to get yourself to the hotel/campus (keep the receipt!).

The easiest way to get from Pearson to Hamilton is to take an Uber/Lyft. If this is what you prefer, there is a dedicated location in both Terminals (Doors Q or P for Terminal 1, D for Terminal 3). If you prefer to take a Taxi, you should head to Door D.

If you are heading right to campus, McMaster is located at 1280 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON. I would suggest you use the McMaster University Student Center as the more specific drop-off point as it is centrally located and generally accessible.

Arrival:VIA Rail Train

If you are arriving from the Train…

Meals

We are providing a reception (canapés, etc.) Friday evening, a light breakfast and lunches on Saturday and Sunday, and a dinner for speakers on Saturday night (at The Diplomat).

We will make reservations for Sunday evening for anyone who wants to go to dinner (at The Mule, Allauren’s favourite Hamilton restaurant), but unfortunately we will not be able to cover that meal. Friday evening Allauren and Elena (and whoever wants to join) will head to either Nanaa (by campus/near the hotel) or MERK Snack Bar (tapas, not near the hotel),

If you’d rather explore Hamilton on your own Friday or Sunday evening, here are some wonderful local restaurants:
